Free Music - Phenomena
Phenomena were an excellent christian rock group from the West Midlands, England. They were around in the late 80s and early 90s and produced at least two EPs, which are available in this download.I don't know many more details about the group, apart form the fact that Jon Grant was the guitarist in the group, and he went on to perform with singer Lynsey, who later became his wife. The two know do an excellent job with a youth work called Krunch based in the West Midlands.
The latest I heard there was a possibility of Phenomena reuniting for some gigs! For more info check out their facebook page
The download available here is from 2 EPs Phenomena recorded. They are tranfers from cassettes, using Audacity to clean up and compress the files. Unfortunately Audacity can't remove tape-wobble from years of playing, and believe me these Phenomena cassettes have been well played. Martyn Joseph
Martyn Joseph is a Welsh singer/songwirter. He often performs solo, just him and his acoustic guitar, although he has been known to have a full band set-up, or to join with other musicians (see 'Faith, Folk and Anarchy' below). He's made loads of recordings, but personally I prefer his live acoustic stuff; to me it's where his passion really comes across. Christmas Carol Service
Salut,
Si vous avez envie de célébrer Noël en anglais cette année, voici deux possibilités qui vous sont proposées.
Samedi 18 décembre à l'Eglise Protestante Evangélique, 15 rue de Rennes, Laval à partir de 17h. Et ensuite le mercredi 22 décembre à la Salle Gothique aux Ursulines, (EMDA) à Château-Gontier à 20h.
Les deux soirées sont des occasions pour chanter des cantiques traditionnels de Noël, et d'entendre des lectures tirées de la Bible au sujet du premier Noël, et le tout (presque) en anglais! Tout le monde est le bienvenue, et il y a une collation festive à la fin !

Nous deux et compagnie : Théâtre à Château-Gontier
Voilà, je vous invite de venir nombreux pour soutenir une soirée humour/théâtre au Rex de Château-Gontier le samedi 20 novembre à 21h. La pièce s'appelle "Nous Deux et Compagnie" et c'est le spectacle auquel j'étais invité à participer en composant la musique de deux textes du spectacle, ainsi que de jouer des morceaux instrumentale. Forgiveness through Jesus
I read this verse today and wanted to note it down somewhere.
"Therefore, my brothers, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. Through him everyone who believes is justified from everything you could not be justified from by the law of Moses."(Acts 13:38-39)Forgiveness and justification comes through believing Jesus, faith in Jesus.

Sola on La Compil' Challenge & Musik 2010

First guitar scale - C major
The fingering is exactly the same as the fret numbers. So on the third fret you use your third finger, on the second your second finger, and when you play an open string, obviously you don't use a finger ;-)

Testament: The Bible in Animation
Years ago an excellent series was produced for TV by S4C, showcasing different animators and treating various Biblical characters and stories. The results for the most part were excellent, a kind of predecessor of The Miracle Maker (Il était une fois Jésus).
Some bright sparks have put the episodes on Youtube, so here they are in a playlist for your pleasure and enlightenment :-) Apparently they are also available on DVD now through the Bible Society shop : http://www.bibleresources.org.uk/9780564038862/ for a modest £19.99.

Concert - 15 juillet 2010 à 20h
La semaine prochaine débute un camp musicale, basé à Laval. Pendant une semaine des jeunes musiciens français et britaniques vont se rencontrer et préparer un concert d'une heure et demie avec des chansons françaises, anglaises, du style pop/rock. Ensuite ils partiront faire 4 concerts, à Laval, Quimper, Guincamp, et Vitré.

West United - Unique
Je suis en train de répéter pour une prochaine sortie à Nantes avec le groupe qui anime les soirées "West United". La prochaine aura lieu le samedi 13 mars à l'Eglise Protestane Evangélique, 137 rue du Corps de Garde, Nantes. Une soirée de louange contemporaine pour les jeunes et les jeunes d'esprit !

Cabaret Concert à Coudray le13 février
Le samedi 13 février il y aura un cabaret concert à Coudray, les bénéfices de cette soirée serviront à l'achat d'un défibrillateur ou à une participation à la formation es Coudréens aux PSC1 (Prévention et Secours Civiques niveau 1). La soirée est en honneur de Donovan, un jeune qui se battait pour la vie il y a un an..., et qui prenait des cours de guitare avec moi dans l'association Challenge & Musik. Heureusement pour Donovan, un prof avait reçu cette formation qui lui a permit de garder Donovan en vie jusqu'à l'arrivée des pompiers. Aujourd'hui Donovan a reprit des cours de guitares avec Nico.
Le cabaret concert est 16 euros pour les adultes, 8 euros pour les enfants de moins de 12 ans, qui comprend le repas (crêpes et galettes) et concert. C'est Pierre Bouguier et les artistes de Challenge & Musik qui assureront la musique, y compris moi-même.

Happy Christmas!
Le samedi 19 décembre nous organisons un "Carol Service". C'est-à-dire, une réunion où le but est de fêter Noël à travers des chansons traditionnelles de Noël, des lectures de l'histoire du premier Noël, la naissance de Jésus, et des "Mince Pies"! Mais puisqu'on est en France, on va mélanger le français et l'anglais pour avoir un "Carol Service bi-lingue".
Ca commence à 20h à la Salle Gothique, (Couvent des Ursulines) et c'est ouvert et libre à tous.
Alors venez nombreux !

Jan Krist is an acoustic american singer/songwriter who released "Love Is Not To Blame" in the early 90s (Released as "Decapitated Society" in the States, I think). She's one of those artists that doesn't really fit into a mould, she writes great songs, with excellent lyrics, thoughtful, searching, well-crafted.

While meandering around the net recently, I came across a link to download the album "Faith, Folk & Anarchy" free of charge and legally! The album contains tracks by Tom Robinson, Steve Knightley & Martyn Joseph, a personal favourite of mine. As the album titles implies, the tracks are all acoustic based songs, and as you'd expect from theses particular songwriters, the tracks all have a lot to say about faith, life, love, society, etc.

Bannerman!
Back in the '90s Steve Taylor toured with his album Squint. The album was a sort of comeback for him. It's an excellent album with great tracks such as "Jesus is for losers", "The Finish Line" and plenty of others.The tour came to the UK, with Guardian supporting, and maybe a couple of other bands, but I can't really remember them, sorry.
Anyhow, on sale during the tour was this comic "Bannerman" following the story of the hero of the song "Bannerman", with a couple of little shorts about the bands on the tour. It's basically a bit of fun, but a nice memento of the tour all the same.
You can read the comic in CBR format if you have a Comic Reader such as Comic Rack installed. Alternatively just rename the file to .zip and extract the images.

Manga - Le Messie
Génial! Ce BD raconte en 280 pages la vie de Jésus depuis l'annonce de sa naissance jusqu'à sa résurrection. C'est plein de dynamisme, les desseins sont vraiment du style manga, y compris l'usage des petits bonhommes "mignon" pour montrer l'incompréhension du personnage, ou sa peur, comme on voit souvent dans les dessein animés. Par contre, les images, contrairement à beaucoup de livres manga, sont en couleur.
C'est donc un manga qui est beau, facile à lire, et qui reste quand même très proche du texte original de la Bible. Bien sur, l'auteur n'a pas utilisé le texte biblique tel quel, il l'a transformé pour que ça marche dans ce média. Par exemple, souvent l'explication des mircales, en les lit dans les pensées des disciples. Mais ce bouquin reste fidèle au texte biblique.
Je n'ai trouvé aucun endroit ou ce BD n'est pas fidèle au texte biblique. Je croyais que l'auteur s'était trompé à deux reprises, alors j'ai vérifié dans la Bible elle-même, et à mon grand étonnement, c'était moi qui s'est trompé ! Comme quoi, lire ce BD pour ce qui connait déjà pas mal la Bible, parfois ça nous aide à découvrir les histoires autrement, et peut-être de faire plus d'attention. Et ce qu'il y a de génial, c'est qu'en bas de chaque page, les références bibliques y sont pour lire l'épisode dans le Bible aussi.
Moi, j'ai vraiment aimé et apprécié ce BD, en tant que passionné de BD et en tant que passionné de la Bible. Ca m'a aidé à voir des choses dans les passages bibliques que j'nai jamais vu auparavant. Et à travers des personnages, j'ai découvert d'autres pistes à explorer pour mieux comprendre la bonté et l'amour de Dieu.

Last Chance - 28 février à Laval
Le samedi 28 février, Last Chance (moi-même et Mike) va donner un concert à notre église à Laval (Eglise Protestante Evangélique, "La Bonne Nouvelle", 15 rue de Rennes, LAVAL. Le concert aura lieu entouré d'un repas délicieux, et comme vous voyez dans l'image, est compris entrée, plat, fromage et dessert - tout cela et Last Chance en plus pour seulement 6 euros!
Si vous souhaitez venir, il faut juste vous inscrire puisque les places sont limitées, et il faut préparer les repas.

Le Messie en Manga !
Je viens de découvrir un livre Manga qui est en fait l'évangile de Marc, en BD manga ! Yes ! Et c'est excellent! J'ai pu feuilleter une copie à l'église hier matin, et franchement, c'est nickel! Les images sont belles, et en plus c'est en couleur.

Voilà déjà un an depuis l'équipe Music 4 the Soul qui accueil des jeunes chrétiens d'autres pays pour une semaine de camp musique. Le but (et le défi !) c'est de préparer un concert d'une heure et demie utilisant des reprises de Jean-Jacques Goldman, Céline Dion, Bob Dylan, Dany Brillant, et beaucoup d'autres, à travers lesquelles l'équipe exprimera sa foi en Dieu.
Cette année nous avons des brittanniques, des faroes, une allemande et un français ! Donc un groupe trés varié.
Nous allons présenter trois concerts, le premier étant à Château-Gontier le vendredi 18 juillet à 20h30 au Foyer Rural, Avenue de la Division Leclerc. L'entrée est gratuite, et tout le monde est invité !

Soirée Rhythm 'n' Blues - 24 mai 2008
Salut,
Juste un peu de pub pour une soirée Rhythm 'n' Blues organisé par Challenge & Musik avec le groupe SOUL62 de Château-Gontier, et Souls Streets de Nantes.
Ca va se passer à la Salle des Fêtes de Château-Gontier, à 20h30. Mais à partir de 14h, il y aura une expo sur le rhythm 'n' blues, les artistes, etc tel James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, etc. Et l'expo est gratuite !
Venez donc nombreux !!

Soirée traditionnelle/folk/celtique 28 mars 2008
Salut,
Voilà ! Après un premier prestation lors de la soirée Challenge Promotion en juin 2007, Pixie Bob se produit sur scène de novueau, enfin. Dans une soirée plutôt acoustique, on va présenter quelques morceaux traditionnelles, mais à notre façon :-)
Egalement présent sera mon autre groupe Sola, qui va présenter un programme folk/traditionnelle avec des compos perso dans ce style.
Et puis on a le plaisir d'accueillir de nouveau Les Chaussettes de Dangan, et de découvrir Avel Glas !

Christmas carol concert !
Voici quelques images de la soirée "Christmas Carol Concert" qu'on a animé en tant que Sola (du moins 3/5) et qu'on a organisée avec l'association protestante évangélique castrogntérienne (apec) et l'association Euromayenne. C'était une soirée forte sympa. Un grand merci à tout ceux qui sont venus partager ce moment de chant et de lecture autour de l'histoire de la naissance de Jésus-Christ.
